Today’s blog post is all about our brand new, deep conditioning and nourishing hair oil SilkyBeast.

After the huge global success of our hair oil, HAIRBEAST - which helps to grow and strengthen the hair - we decided to formulate a moisturising hair oil that will condition that long hair, keep it silky and smooth!

We have specifically picked out certain ingredients to make SilkyBeast suitable for even the most driest and delicate of hair types, including Afro Caribbean and African hair. Even if your hair doesn’t require intense moisture, you can use SilkyBeast to condition and smoothen the ends of your hair.

WHAT IS SILKYBEAST MADE FROM:

Like HAIRBEAST, Merakhi and Nzuri Chamrhi; SilkyBeast is a blend of 100% cold pressed, organic oils which have not been diluted or bleached. 

SilkyBeast contains a blend of nutritious oils including Camellia Oil, Blackseed Oil and Abyssinian Oil. 

Camellia Oil is amazing for those who experience frizzy hair due to humidity, heat or moisture loss. It is rich in Omega 9 fatty acids and is similar to the oil your body naturally produces, keeping your skin cleansed (not clogged) and your scalp hydrated (not smothered).

As we already know Blackseed Oil - which is a key ingredient in our HAIRBEAST hair oil - is high beneficial for the hair and scalp. It helps to clean the scalp of any inflammation, flakiness or any fungal infections whilst promoting hair growth. 

Abyssinian Oil is a very lightweight oil which is perfect for those with fine hair as it doesn’t weight the hair down. Due to the fatty lipids in this oil, it is able to add amazing shine to the hair and allows for great lubrication to hair strands - making it amazing for detangling.

These three oils make up a portion of the rich blend of oils in SilkyBeast, that can help hair become softer, sleeker, more luscious and conditioned.

HOW TO USE SILKYBEAST:

Before pouring the oil, give SilkyBeast a good shake. 

Apply 12-16 drops of SilkyBeast into your hands, and massage all over the hair, concentrating on the ends to make them more softer. Keep the oil in for at least two hours, or overnight for best results and wash out with shampoo. For a super deep conditioning effect, apply the SilkyBeast and wrap hair in a hot towel. Using a hot towel will give a hot oil treatment effect. Once the towel cools, you can wash the hair with shampoo and follow up with conditioner if desired.

We recommend using SilkyBeast two to three times a week for best results, but this depends on your own preference. 

SilkyBeast can be used on all hair colours and types - especially Afro hair as SilkyBeast is designed to condition the finest and more delicate of hair types.

How To Care For Damaged, Brittle & Coloured Hair With HAIRBEAST Hair Oil

As it’s now September and Autumn is around the corner, many people choose to opt for darker hair colours to match the seasonal trends. Brown, mahogany, burgundy; these are a few of the popular hair colours for this time. However; colouring, dyeing and bleaching your hair can lead to many hair troubles such as breakage, brittle and severely dry hair. 

Whether you’re bleaching your hair or dyeing it with box dyes from supermarkets; the combination of hydrogen peroxide and ammonia help to lighten the hair. Depending on the level of the bleach, you can lighten the hair up to 7 levels. Although this will definitely lead to damaged hair, so it’s recommended to apply bleach on and lighten the hair with timely breaks in between, to ensure that the hair will stay in good condition.

Merakhi is amazing at reducing acne as using an oil based moisturiser also works to help reduce the skin’s sebum production. Using an organic face oil that keeps the skin moisturised and supple, will trick the skin into thinking it already has enough moisture. 

Our Merakhi face oil contains amazing skin loving ingredients including Neem and Pomegranate oils - which help to regenerate skin calls, heal the skin, improve the skin’s texture and tone. It is suitable for normal-oily skin types, including sensitive skin and mature skin. However, we do not recommend it for dry skin.

Before pouring the Merakhi oil, give it a good shake. Apply 4-5 drops of Merakhi into your hands and warm it up by rubbing your hands togehter. Then pat the oil onto the skin after using Nzuri Chamrhi cleanser and toning.

We recommend using Merakhi once a day - usually in the evening - up until your skin gets used to the oil - then you can use it twice a day.

Don’t be afraid of using Merakhi before applying any makeup, as it can help to keep your make up looking fresh and comfortable for a long time. It absorbs nicely into the skin and won’t make your skin look very greasy or oily - so there is no need for any worries like that.

Another BIG Reason To Use Nzuri Chamrhi

One of our most frequently asked questions is: “When are you going to bring out a face oil for dry skin?”

As we have not yet released a face oil for dry skin, as Merakhi is designed for oily to normal types, we have a super handy trick that involves our Nzuri Chamrhi cleanser.

Nzuri Chamrhi is our fabulous cleansing oil which helps with dark circles, pigmentation, acne, irritated skin, dull skin and so much more. It works with all skin types, from dry to oily, young to mature skin - to improve the overall appearance and texture of the skin. 

You’re probably wondering what Nzuri Chamrhi has to do with moisturising the skin, as it is a cleanser. Well, since it has moisturising properties in it as it helps to balance out the skin as well as to remove excess oil and add in any necessary moisture - it can be used after cleansing to moisturise dry skin.

How To Use Nzuri Chamrhi:

Before using Nzuri Chamrhi, we recommend giving the bottle a shake. Before washing your face, pour out a small amount of the oil and rub your hands together to warm up the oil. Then massage the oil directly on to your skin for 2-3 minutes, making sure to get the neck too. Using a hot cloth, remove the cleansing oil using gentle wipes. 

After removing the excess oil, rinse away and splash your face with cold water to close the pores. Then, taking a small amount of Nzuri Chamrhi, pat the oil into your skin and slowly massage the skin - as you would with a regular moisturiser.

After reading this, you’re probably wondering how could you use a cleanser as a moisturiser, as you wouldn’t be able to do this with regular store bought products.

Our Summer Glow HACK

Yes, the days are now getting shorter and the temperature is slowly dropping - however it is still summer and people are still going for summer vacays! After all, why not make the most out of this season?! 

To those of you who are still venturing out to tropical destinations, we have a lovely little beauty hack for you to use while you’re chilling and partying it up. But, this trick is also great for those who want to look glowy and amazing for a night out on the town! 

Both our Nzuri Chamrhi cleanser and Merakhi face oil can make you look super radiant, glowy and healthy! And whats even better is that these two products are now in 20ml bottles, which is amazing for those of you who are on the go! We decided to launch the 20ml bottles for people who would love to take our products with them when they are travelling, but also for those who want to try out the cleanser and face oil before purchasing the full sized bottles. 

When it comes to looking glowing, the base is just as important as the makeup. Nzuri Chamrhi is an oil cleanser to be used with a hot cloth. It helps to give the skin a deep clean, exfoliate and remove any dead skin and dirt - without stripping the skin’s natural moisture. Follow up with the Merakhi face oil after closing the pores with a splash of cold water, to prep the skin for makeup and our glow secret!

Once you have applied all of your makeup - minus the highlight - you are ready for our secret highlight hack!

Apply a drop of Merakhi face oil onto the back of your hand, take your finger and pat a small amount of the oil onto the high points of your face that you would like to highlight. For example the tops of your cheekbones, brow bone, cupids bow and bridge of the nose. Make sure to use a small amount of oil and really tap it into the skin. 

Then, taking your favourite powdered highlight, dust it onto the areas you have just tapped on the Merakhi and see how amazing it looks.

The Merakhi face oil acts like a highlight primer; your highlight looks more intense and brighter but you are able to blend the highlight using your foundation brush or sponge.

How To Keep Your Skin Happy Through The Summer

As it is well into the summer season and we’re all making the most of the sun, getting a tan and some Vitamin D; we still have to protect our skin from excessive sun damage. Here are some tips to help you prepare and protect your skin from the sun.

Water: 

This tip might seem like a no brainer, but it is super essential to know. Drinking plenty of water is really important throughout summer, not just for internal health but for the health and appearance of the skin. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of H2O throughout the day. Although if you feel like you’re forgetful or don’t get thirsty that often, set hourly reminders to make sure you stay hydrated.

Protection:

This tip, too, is a no brainer. Please keep your skin protected from the sun by using sun blocks or sunscreen - to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. When you don’t use a form of sun protection, an immediate reaction you get is sun burn. However, sun damage can occur over a lifetime and can lead to skin cancer. So it’s important to use sun protection of SPF 30 or higher.

After Sun:

Along with sun protection, it’s important to look after the skin after you’ve been out in the sun. If you would like a lovely tan, you need to keep your skin moisturised and hydrated as your tan will last longer. We also recommend using our Nzuri Chamrhi cleanser and Merakhi Face Oil on a night to help repair the skin after a long day in the sun.
